We know that choosing the right dance school to nurture your child’s creativity is important. We are a kind and caring, community-oriented dance school who treasures our dancers. We look forward to hearing from you and hope you’ll join our dance family.
Classes
Your dancer will be taught by a certified teacher who is experienced, trained, and skilled in working with children and sensitive to your child's specific needs in a way that helps build self esteem.
Our dancers have a variety of class offerings open to them with classes for each level of skill. You and your child will not be pressured into a joining a performance team or going to dance competition. As your child's skill increases, options will be available to you when and if your child is ready.
Teaching Assistants
Our assistants do not teach classes. They are experienced dancers who assist in the classroom to help guide dancers in their skills as instruction is offered. Our teaching assistants are hand selected as dancers who are friendly with children and are positive role models who are willing to lend a hand and a kind word of encouragement as they assist the teacher during class.
Toddler and preschool classes have their teaching assistant on stage with them in the recital, and recital assistants as needed. This increases confidence, comfort, and safety while performing, making the recital a fun experience without fear.
Our School
School History
In 1996, Miss Stephanie started the Earth Dancer School (Jaffrey-Rindge Danceworks). In 1997, the Free Spirits Dance Company was formed to offer dancers more performing opportunities. The Free Spirits Dancers perform throughout the Monadnock region and at dance competitions.
The Free Spirits Dance Company includes three teams of dancers ranging in age and skill level from preschool through teens: Shining Stars (Seniors), Shooting Stars (Juniors) and Twinkles (Youth).
Confidence, Self Expression, Creativity
Innovative teaching techniques are used in a positive and encouraging environment to help your child every dance step of the way.
Dancers are encouraged to let loose and be "free spirits" in dancing and acting out roles.
Our class sizes are small to ensure each student receives personalized instruction so your dancer won't get lost in the crowd.
Dancers are grouped with similar ages and are advanced as they are ready. Dancers who are highly motivated are encouraged and challenged without being pushed. Recreational dancers are allowed to enjoy class without pressure.
Classical and creative dance technique is reinforced with a syllabus that is fresh and interesting to keep dancers involved and reaching higher goals.
Free Spirits Dance Company
Our performance teams are comprised of dancers who are accomplished, skilled, and confident, but is not tightly restrictive. We want dancers who enjoy performing to have the opportunity to be a part of our Free Spirits Dance Company family.
As dancers have a demonstrated increase in well executed skills, they are offered opportunities to be included in more dances. Our performers range in age from preschool to teens. We currently have three performance teams for various skill levels.
The Studios
Jaffrey
We have been dancing in Jaffrey-Rindge since 1996. The studio is located at 54 Main Street in Jaffrey, next to the former Saint Patrick School. “The Loft” studio is located in the annex building at the United Church of Jaffrey and has ballet barres, mirrors, a parent waiting area, and ample parking on site in downtown Jaffrey.
Winchester
We're excited to build our new dance program and welcome new students in Winchester at the Grange Hall. The studio is at 9 Mechanic Street. It has a parent waiting area with ample off-street parking. Dance locally and support keeping arts programs in Winchester!
