Why we love no-drawstring ballet slippers!

We just love the drawstring-free leather ballet slipper design some shoemakers have been offering.
Parents of preschoolers love to tie a bow at the top of their ballet slippers and wee ones love to undo the ties during warm ups. To avoid this, some parents tie the shoes in a knot and cut off the ends!
Tweens, teens and little ones alike have been known to accidentally pull a drawstring out of their ballet slipper. While not impossible, it's incredibly difficult to thread it back through the narrow binding. Without the drawstring, the shoe is no longer snug on the heel, and perhaps, gaps at the vamp.
When dancers grow, and drawstrings are knotted or at stretch capacity, the back of the the heel can become very uncomfortable. This is also the case for dancers with narrow ankles that pull the drawstring tight to keep their shoes on snugly.
Ta-dah! Along came the elastic binding without a drawstring! We transitioned to this shoe to avoid drawstring issues, but have come to love them for comfort and because of their streamlined, smooth appearance on the foot.
