These videos give an overview of climate change and communicating climate issues. They can be very helpful in discussing the importance of addressing climate or sharing climate concerns with legislators or others that have limited time for viewing.

UN chief: World has less than 2 years to avoid ‘runaway climate change'

"António Guterres, the United Nations secretary general, told global leaders this week that the world has less than two years to avoid “runaway climate change.”
​
“If we do not change course by 2020, we risk missing the point where we can avoid runaway climate change,” Guterres said during a speech at the U.N. headquarters in New York.
“Climate change is the defining issue of our time, and we are at a defining moment,” he said. “Scientists have been telling us for decades. Over and over again. Far too many leaders have refused to listen.”

“The time has come for our leaders to show they care about the people whose fate they hold in their hands,” Guterres said. “We need to rapidly shift away from our dependence on fossil fuels.”

"Today, scientists can also more clearly convey the rising risk of extreme events that will have major consequences for human welfare. For example, researchers forecast that beyond 2050, as much as 44 percent of the planet's land areas will be exposed to drying. This will lead to severe drought conditions throughout southern Europe, North America, much of southeast Asia, and most of the Amazon—affecting about 1.4 billion people. There is also a heightened risk of more extreme rainfall which will expose an additional two billion people to floods."

Fossil fuel on last legs: Lovins
​
"Investors need to prepare for unprecedented change in the oil, auto and electricity industries, said Amory Lovins, co-founder and chief scientist at the Rocky Mountain Institute, in the opening speech to the Fiduciary Investors Symposium at Stanford University on Sunday. Speaking to delegates who represented 87 asset owners from 14 countries, accounting for a combined $8 trillion in assets under management, Lovins talked of unprecedented opportunity and hope in the coming years.

“In the next 4-5 years, cheaper renewables will offset growth in all fossil fuels, tipping them into decline,” he warned.
Last year, modern renewables accounted for 64 per cent of the world’s net additional generating capacity. By 2020, renewables will beat fossil fuels in every major region on earth."
