Familiarize yourself with key issues by going to the docket for the PUC issue you want to comment on. Scroll to the bottom to read comments from ECHO Action members, Sierra Club NH, the Conservation Law Foundation and environmental advocates from across New Hampshire. Many of those commenting have been engaged in doing this work for quite a while. Reading their statements may guide you in writing your own comments.

Who should write comments to the PUC

• Residents of pipeline impacted and abutting towns

• Select Boards (individuals and/or as a Board)

• Planning Boards, Conservation Commissions, Energy Committees

• Climate action organizations, community groups and town/city committees

• Pipeline/fracked gas/fossil fuel opposition groups

• Parent-Teacher-Student Organizations

• Students, Teachers, Principals, Parents

WHAT CONCERNS TO ADDRESS

Liberty Utilities Pipelines

​

• Cost of the pipeline and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) tank

• Stranded costs when infrastructure is becomes obsolete

• Lack of benefits to ratepayers

• Unfulfilled promises of municipal revenue

• Cities that have had to pay back revenue when infrastructure was deemed less profitable than promised (Bow NH)

• Capacity/ability/experience of the company to manage a project of this size (largest project they've ever proposed)

• 2.2% leak rate of existing pipelines

• Fines for failure to report leaks

• Fines for failure to inspect pipelines

• Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) under water sources or near aquifers & wells​ and drilling mud leaks

• Climate change impacts of expanded methane gas combustion

• Failure to consider renewable energy projects over gas

HOW TO COMMENT

​

It is very important to submit comments to the PUC docket. This lets the PUC staff know what community members are concerned about.

• Reading the comments of others may help you in choosing key aspects of the project to comment on. Take your time, this is important. Ask others to proofread.

• Add links to any research or quotes you refer to in your comments.

• Your comments don't have to be technical. Simply state your concerns. Data to back up claims is important.

• You may submit comments more than once if additional concerns arise or if you become aware of things the PUC should be informed of.​
