MANCHESTER, N.H.—Fire crews in Manchester responded to about 30 reports of natural gas odor Friday night after utility crews worked on lines in the city. No leaks were discovered, and the utility said residents shouldn't be alarmed.
Officials said crews from Liberty Utilities were purging natural gas lines at Harrison and Beech streets, Beech and Blodget streets, and on Hazel Street. As part of the process, crews added an odorant to the gas that makes it detectable.
Due to rainy and windy conditions, the smell didn't dissipate as quickly as thought and dozens of callers in the North End, West Side and central part of the city reported the odor.
No significant health issues were reported.
Fire officials said anyone who smells gas should give them a call at 603-669-2256.
