Thank you to NH Sierra Club Chapter, for standing against pipelines.
We asked gubernatorial candidate Molly Kelly 8 times, as well as our Senate Dems & GOP, to stand in opposition to fossil fuel expansion and to rescind their support of the Granite Bridge Pipeline. Want to help? Call your State Senator and ask them to support solar #PanelsNotPipelines.
ECHO Action will sit down with any legislator and talk about climate change and pipelines, privately or in groups, to discuss our concerns about the Granite Bridge pipeline and LNG tank.
"The influential Sierra Club New Hampshire chapter is expected to issue its endorsements for the upcoming election next week, and there could be some surprises.
According to a source with knowledge of the endorsements, the surprise won’t come in the announcement of who is endorsed, but rather who is not endorsed.
Earlier this year, 22 of the 24 state senators endorsed Granite Bridge, a proposal by Liberty Utilities to bring a natural gas pipeline to the Seacoast along Route 101, with a storage tank in Epping. All 10 Democratic state senators endorsed the project.
The Sierra Club opposes new fossil fuel facilities for New Hampshire, particularly facilities using fracked natural gas – as Granite Bridge plans to use.
“A number of New Hampshire Senate Democrats will not be endorsed for election and the reason is that they support a new fossil fuel facility proposed for the center of the state, Granite Bridge,” the source said, declining to cite a specific number of senators who will or won't be endorsed.
Endorsements are expected to be made for candidates for offices ranging from governor and congress to the Executive Council, state Senate and state House.
Republican Gov. Chris Sununu supports the Granite Bridge project, while Democratic gubernatorial challenger Molly Kelly has yet to take a firm position."
