THINK THE CHILDREN OF THE FRACKING FIELDS ARE THE ONLY ONES AT RISK?
When we build gas pipelines, we expose ourselves and children to methane leaks (can't be seen or smelled) and the toxic, trade secret chemicals in fracked gas. Leaks are pervasive, even in new pipelines. They are also released in intentional "blow downs" at compressor and metering stations. The poisonous frack wastewater is being used to irrigate the produce we eat, but we have no way of knowing what it is used on.
Exposure to chemicals used in fracking can lead to permanent brain damage in newborns and children, leading to learning disabilities, neurological disorders and birth defects. Caroline Cox, research director at the Center for Environmental Health, joins “News with Ed” to explain the study and its implications.
