Please write to your NH state senator and the members of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and ask them to support this state bill, which requires the public utility commission to determine whether any pipeline capacity contract with a term of more than one year is in the public interest. Right now, Eversource is asking the PUC (Public Utilities Commission) for a 20 year contract! That is way too long - it locks us into using Fossil fuels for 20 years!

Please support HB1148, an act relative to pipeline capacity contracts. This bill requires the public utility commission to determine whether any pipeline capacity contract with a term of more than one year is in the public interest.
Currently, Eversource is asking the PUC (Public Utilities Commission) for a 20 year contract. Twenty years is far too long. This would lock New Hampshire, our children and grandchildren, into a fossil fuel future. "Fracked gas" fuel was unheard of twenty years ago. Imagine the many innovative energy options that are likely to be available in next five or ten years - maybe sooner! This a very exciting time to live in!
It is in the best interest of New Hampshire citizens, our quality of life, the environment, our health and safety to require that the PUC determine whether any pipeline capacity contact with a term of more than one year is in the public interest.
We ask you to please support this bill on our behalf, and for generations to come. With your help, New Hampshire will have a clean, bright future! Thank you.
