ECHO Action is so honored to work with Chris Balch of Wilton, NH. Chris puts his heart into all that he does. He has become a vital member of the ECHO Action team and we want to support him in his hike to Everest base camp this month in the manner that he has supported us. We hope you'll want to support his team as well!
Our team will be sporting the #HopeForGus Everest trek patches/stickers in support of Chris and his team as they climb! (They've been conditioning for months!)
That's Chris on the far right in a beret! You can see that this isn't his first trek to Everest for Duchenne research!
"When I was a kid, I'd ask my mom for something - a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or for her to draw me a picture or tell me a story, or...and she would. But not before reminding me to use the "magic word." So I'd ask again, putting "please" before my request.
In the last 5 years that I've been involved in raising awareness and funds for Duchenne research, I've become very much aware of a second magic word. Hope. The magic of this word is that on some days, make that many days, families with a loved one struggling with Duchenne have nothing more to hang onto than the hope that a better day is ahead. That their loved one will walk tomorrow, or will breathe better, or can come home from the hospital and the hope their loved one may live long enough to have a chance to live a good life.
I am raising money to help transform that hope into reality. I ask you, using the magic words: Will you PLEASE contribute $20 to help sustain HOPE? Thank you." - Chris Balch
"Be a part of and show your solidarity with the 2017 Everest to End Duchenne team by wearing the official team patch! This is the same patch all team members will wear on the September trek to Everest base camp as part of the continuing mission to raise funds for and awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy."
