Who was at #NH Consumer Advocates' D Maurice Kreis' Power to the People: The PUC and Fossil Fuel Expansion in NH presentation in Keene on Wednesday night? A room packed with City Councilors, State Reps, Candidates, Lawyers, Intervenors, Community Leaders, Environmentalists, some who came from as far as the Upper Valley. The list read like a Who's Who of the New Hampshire pipeline opposition community.

Activist intervenors like Ariel Arwen, who have been fighting Liberty Utilities in Lebanon and Hanover, carpooled to attend Wednesday night's presentation in Keene. Keene City Councilor Terry Clark and Litchfield Lawyer Richard Husband were in attendance. Current State Representatives Marge Shepardson and Jim McConnell were in the audience. Candidates for State Representative Pat Martin of Rindge, who organized the event Susan Silverman of Fitzwilliam, listened intently. ECHO Action's Sue Durling and Stephanie Scherr were in the company of many former NED pipeline opponents, including Doug Whitbeck and Henri Vaillancourt. Citizen's Climate Lobby's Susan Opal and many others were eager to hear what D. Maurice Kreis had to say about how NH's Public Utilities Commission works.
Attendees listened, asked questions specific to current dockets at the PUC, how they could become involved and how legal proceedings worked. After a discussion panel that included attorney Richard Husband, PLAN NE Board Member Cathy Kristofferson and ECHO Action's Stephanie Scherr, the crowd broke into companionable discussion of current local and regional energy issues. The two hour presentation was well received. It was recored by Cheshire TV and is available to their customers for viewing.
