Since December, the Solarize Monadnock team has been preparing for this week's events and a campaign they hope will increase solar installations significantly in participating towns.
The first event is Wednesday at the Peterborough Town House, with a second kickoff at Franklin Pierce University on Thursday. The two events will feature a presentation by the ReVision Energy, the installer chosen by application and interview process.
Solarize is a campaign used nationwide that educates and streamlines the process of going solar, making it less complicated and more appealing for those interested in a solar system. Solarize Monadnock is the first campaign in the Monadnock Region.
The events are open to the public, but focus specifically on the first participating towns of Peterborough, Sharon, Hancock, Rindge and Fitzwilliam. Community members will learn about solar and the installation process, financing options and have the opportunity to sign up for home evaluations and upcoming solar home open houses. Light refreshments and a few surprises are planned.
The solarize campaign is a project of the nonprofit, Monadnock Energy Hub, a group that brings energy efficiency and renewables professionals, advocates and organizations together in a regional coalition.
Events this week launch the campaign that runs several months, with all installations being completed by year's end, in time to take advantage of the last year to receive the 30% federal tax credit.
