PROTECT NH FARMS, OPPOSE HB 1233
HB 1233 would take away the right of communities to regulate seeds and fertilizers, unless done specifically through zoning and planning. Preserve our right to regulate farming and fertilization in our communities as we see fit and protect our precious water supplies.
Please take a few moments to use our the two scripts below to ask these legislators to firmly oppose HB 1233 when the House votes on it, which we expect to be very soon.
TALKING POINTS
HB1233 uses vague language such as and "other uses" that could:
• Stop communities from protecting their water supplies.
• Stop communities from banning the use of chemicals that could put their health and water supplies at risk.
• Regulate and impair growing and selling local produce from family and local farms, organic farms & CSAs.
• Empower companies that want to regulate the seeds we use, including heirloom seeds.
• May impair and/or conflict with Federal law such FIFRA that regulates insecticide, fungicide and rodenticide (poisons).
* You may use these talking points in making calls or to add comments to the scripts below.
