Liberty Utilities has proposed the Granite Bridge, a fracked gas pipeline from Manchester to Stratham NH. They have been aggressively seeking natural gas contracts throughout the state for a number of years in an apparent attempt to create a false need for gas.
Eversource has threatened the Environmental Defense Fund with a cease and desist order for exposing constrained gas pipeline capacity done to create a false need for more gas.
There's an all-out assault on consumers by the utilities and the only ones who can stop them are us. One way we can act right now is to get signatures to put the NH Offshore Wind warrant article on as many town ballots as possible. The more support for renewable energy, the stronger our argument against it. Education is our best defense.
What does this mean to NED pipeline opponents? We know that it doesn't feel like we're under threat of a pipeline right now, but the reality is that they have they have their hand on the back door and we've left it unlocked. We need to take action.
The time to stop pipelines is before they are at our doorstep. The utilities are proposing segmented pipeline routes that seem innocuous to those who are not watching closely. Many of us are distracted by a chaotic political climate and our everyday schedules.
ECHO Action will be organizing an information and planning session to take action in response to the pipeline push in New Hampshire. Are you on our member list? If not, sign up now!
Get on board with us for positive action that will move our state towards abundant 100% renewable energy, jobs, an economic outlook and the innovation that will attract businesses and youth to work, play and stay in the Granite State!
